WATCH: Karlovic breaks fastest serve record

Croatian Ivo Karlovic produced a world-record 156mph serve during Saturday’s Davis Cup doubles match-up.

IS IT A bird? Is it a plane?

No – it’s an absolutely monstrous serve from Croatian tennis star Ivo Karlovic.

Standing tall at six-foot-ten, Karlovic produced a 251 kmph (156 mph) rocket during his country’s Davis Cup tie against Germany in Zagreb.

The 32-year-old and partner Ivan Dodig were a game to love down in their doubles rubber against Philipp Petzschner and Christopher Kas when Karlovic struck. Germany eventually won Saturday’s match in five sets to advance to the tournament’s quarter-finals.

The International Tennis Federation officially confirmed on Saturday night that the serve had broken Andy Roddick’s record of 249 kph (155 mph) which had stood since 2004.
