'Scandalous!' - Clear goal not given as Chelsea knock Valencia out of U19 Champions League

Gary Neville says he can’t believe what he has just seen.

CHELSEA AND VALENCIA met in the play-offs of the Uefa Youth League, the U19 equivalent of the Champions League, at the Premier League club’s training ground in Surrey this evening.

The game finished 1-1 after 120 minutes of football, meaning the sides took part in a penalty shootout.

When Valencia substitute Alberto Gil stepped up and struck his spot-kick beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Bradley Collins, the ball crossed the line before bouncing back out off the inside of the goal post.

Replays showed the effort should have stood but the officials put it down as a miss and Valencia lost 5-3 on penalties.

The club’s first team boss Gary Neville was watching and tweeted his disbelief after the result.
