LIVERPOOL STRIKER DANNY Ings is expected to be out of action for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old ruptured cruciate knee ligaments while training at Melwood yesterday, meaning he is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Just yesterday, news that Reds team-mate Joe Gomez will undergo surgery on his ACL emerged while new manager Jurgen Klopp will also be without Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino for his first game in charge this Saturday.

The pair have both returned to non-contact training but neither will be ready for the trip to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham.
