THE LANDSCAPE CONTINUES to change at Tallaght Stadium after Shamrock Rovers announced the departures of three players this afternoon.

Danny North and Maxime Blanchard have both had their contracts with the Premier Division club terminated by mutual consent, while 20-year-old midfielder Gareth McCaffrey is heading to First Division side Drogheda United on loan until the end of the season.

McCaffrey, who joined Rovers before the beginning of last season after a spell at Hibernians, made 15 league appearances for Rovers in 2015 but had been restricted to just five so far in the current campaign.

North also joined the Hoops ahead of the 2015 season and went on to score 12 goals in 31 league games during his 18 months with the club.

The 28-year-old former Grimsby Town and St Pat’s striker, who was a Premier Division winner with Sligo Rovers in 2012, thanked Shamrock Rovers on Twitter, explaining that injuries have taken their toll and that his time in Ireland has now come to an end.

Another arrival in Tallaght early in 2015, Blanchard — a 29-year-old French defender who came to Ireland following a three-year spell at Plymouth Argyle — played 26 times for Rovers in the league.

Neither North nor Blanchard had started a game for Rovers since their penalty shootout victory against Shelbourne in the EA Sports Cup at Tolka Park on 2 May.

Shamrock Rovers, who are currently under the stewardship of caretaker manager Stephen Bradley following the recent departure of Pat Fenlon, sit fourth in the Premier Division table, 14 points adrift of leaders Dundalk.
