Nemo Rangers in limbo as Kerry SFC final replay date fixed for weekend of 22 November

Stalemate at Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney is a real fly in the ointment for various fixtures makers.

FRESH FIXTURES CHAOS is looming following this afternoon’s draw between South Kerry and Killarney Legion in the Kerry SFC final.

Cork champions Nemo Rangers may not know their Munster semi-final opponents until after the Kingdom replay takes place on the weekend of 22 November – unless it’s confirmed that they are playing Dingle next week.

A Kerry GAA statement issued this evening reads: “Following Discussions between Officers of the Munster Council and Kerry GAA it has been decided to put the Replay of the Kerry Senior Football Championship back a week to the Weekend of November 22nd. The CCC will meet tomorrow evening to confirm match details for the Replay.

“The St Marys V Corofin Munster Intermediate Championship game will therefore go ahead as planned next weekend.”

It’s still unclear how this affects the AIB Munster senior club football semi-final involving Nemo Rangers, fixed for next weekend.

As things stand, the game is fixed for a Cork venue next Sunday, 15 November, against Legion or Dingle.

Perhaps Munster GAA officials are considering the prospect of pushing the game back a week, thereby allowing Legion the chance to compete in the provincial championship should they beat South Kerry in the Kerry replay.

But if the replay goes ahead on 21 November, Legion would face the prospect of playing two games in two days, which is far from ideal.

Dingle, as club champions in Kerry, may be nominated to represent the Kingdom against Nemo next weekend but we won’t know what the state of play is until the Munster Council clarifies the situation.

South Kerry, as a divisional outfit, are prohibited from playing in the Munster championship which means that either Legion or Dingle will fly the flag for the county.

Two games in 24 hours would be difficult for Legion, should that scenario arise.

After winning the Déise senior football final on Friday evening, Waterford kingpins Stradbally were a spent force as they suffered a heavy defeat to Nemo last night.
