Leinster Colleges: Kieran's see off Kilkenny rivals CBS to continue their All-Ireland defence

Good Counsel New Ross, St Peter’s (Wexford) and Borris VS also booked their place in the final four on Saturday.

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS St Kieran’s beat city rivals Kilkenny CBS to book their place in the Leinster Colleges SH “A” semi-finals.

CBS had the upper hand when these two met in last year’s Leinster final but Kieran’s avenged themselves in the Croke Cup decider and did so again this afternoon, continuing their march towards back-to-back titles with an eight-point win.

The sides were level at the break in Nowlan Park, 0-6 to 1-3, but Kieran’s dominated the remainder despite playing against a stiff breeze.

Billy Ryan’s goal in the 39th minute was the icing on the cake as they set up a semi-final date against Good Counsel College in a fortnight’s time.

The New Ross school were pushed all the way by Dublin South before pulling away in the final quarter to win 2-12 to 0-12.

There’s Wexford interest in the second semi-final as St Peter’s won comfortably against Castlecomer CS in Fenagh, 1-14 to 0-6.

They will now face Borris of Carlow who beat Dublin’s Coláiste Eoin 0-12 to 0-9.
