Limerick dig in to pull away from Antrim in second-half blitz

The Munster outfit are up and running.

Limerick 0-23
Antrim 1-12

TJ RYAN’S LIMERICK team were rewarded for their long trip north to Ballycastle as they claimed their first victory in Division 1B today.

After last week’s draw at home to Waterford, Limerick needed the win today to boost their promotion charge and they achieved just that against Antrim.

The opening half was tightly contested with Limerick just edging it 0-10 to 0-9 at the interval courtesy of a late point from David Reidy. Matthew Donnelly and Simon McCrory were amongst Antrim’s point scorers while forward Paul Shiels contributed 0-5.

Antrim got a huge boost early in the second-half when Eoghan Campbell grabbed what transpired to be the only goal of the game.

However Limerick bounced back from the concession of that score. They were ahead 0-16 to 1-12 midway through the second-half and then shot seven points without reply in the closing stages as Shane Dowling and Tom Condon both showed up well.
