Floyd Mayweather says he's better than Muhammad Ali

A confident Floyd Mayweather declared his belief that he is better than boxing great Muhammad Ali.

COMPARING FLOYD MAYWEATHER to boxing legend Muhammad Ali is difficult considering the two fought in different weight classes, in different eras, etc. A head-to-head fight would not really be fair.

But that does not stop people, especially Mayweather, from talking about it.

The undefeated boxer — who is less than two weeks away from the richest bout in boxing history against Manny Pacquiao — spoke to ESPN to confidently boast he is a better fighter than Ali ever was.

“No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was [sic] better than me,” he said.

“No one could ever brainwash me and tell me that. But one thing I will do, I’m going to take my hat off to them and respect those guys because those are the guys that paved the way for me to be where I’m at today.”

He then went on to talk about Leon Spinks’ experience and Ali’s strategy in the 1974 ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ fight against George Foreman.

“Leon Spinks only had seven fights,” he said. “Never put a fighter in there with Floyd Mayweather with seven fights.

“Take punishment and let a man tire yourself out from beating you? You hit him with a few punches and go down and quit and you want to be glorified for that?”
