Unbelievable

'The best match I have ever played in my life' - Miracle at the Nou Camp: who said what

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic compared his side’s win to the Super Bowl finale.

BARCELONA STUNNED PSG 6-1 (6-5 on aggregate) to reach the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday in the greatest comeback in the history of the competition.

Below, we look at who’s saying what about the miracle at the Nou Camp:

“I threw myself at it with everything. We left Paris (after the first leg) very down and now this is incredible. We were prepared for all this. The fans were like 10 extra players and in the end this is all for them.”

- Sergi Roberto whose goal in the fifth minute of injury time sealed Barcelona’s incredible triumph.

“It’s the best match I have ever played in my life.”

- Two-goal star Neymar

“I think that no one would have believed in it. Seeing the team’s dedication throughout the game, even though we conceded a goal. I believe the players were exceptional at all levels.”

- Barcelona coach Luis Enrique

“It is a difficult night to explain with words. It was a horror movie, not a drama, with a Camp Nou that I have seen very few times as a player or coach.”

- Enrique

“Unspeakable.”

- Headline on Thursday’s front page of French sports daily L’Equipe

“I left some ligaments on the pitch but it was worth it!”

- Enrique on his wild celebrations.

“This is a historic achievement that will be remembered forever.”

- Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

“I have never seen anything like this. Only in sport can you live through emotions like this. We knew how to put them in difficulty, we made them run, we prepared well. We lost the first match, but if we play like this, it will be complicated to beat us.”

- Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti

“We had to believe [because] 4-0 was hard, but it is football. We saw it in the Super Bowl, what is possible in sport. Today was crazy. This is Barcelona, the best team in the world and we want to continue our dream in the Champions League.”

- Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic

“It’s a nightmare for everyone. Three goals in seven minutes is very difficult. Everybody is upset but now is not the time to talk about it.”

- PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi

“It’s a miracle. We are in the quarter-final. We never gave up believing… I would say to the hospitals of Barcelona to hire nurses. Tonight people will make a lot of love.”

- Barcelona defender Gerard Pique

“We didn’t do the match we wanted and then the position of the referee was more often in favour of Barcelona. But Barcelona played with the right spirit to win the match.”

- PSG coach Unai Emery

“I’d like to congratulate FC Barcelona, it’s an amazing result they got tonight.”

- Former Barca coach Pep Guardiola, now at Man City.
