Noel Gallagher hailed the influence of The Brodge on Match Of The Day 2 last night

The High Flying Birds frontman played the pundit last night.

FORMER OASIS GUITARIST Noel Gallagher made his name between the likes of Bonehead and Guigsy, but he was flanked by Jermaine Jenas and Lawro on his MOTD debut last night.

The Man City fan was a guest on the Mark Chapman-presented show, having appeared on Football Focus a couple of years ago.

“We thought the powers of The Brodge were waning, but he’s turning it around,” Gallagher said of Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers.

“They’re winning games without Gerrard now. We need them to keep United out of the top four as City fans.”

On the topic of trialling diving monitoring, he said: “Where do you start, where do you stop?” The way managers are digging referees out, if you were thinking about becoming a referee you would think ‘why would I bother?’.”

“The referee [in the Spurs game] was particularly psychedelic, but managers have to carry the can somewhere. They’re only human.”
