Big injury concern for Tipperary hurlers following Munster final win

Pádraic Maher damaged his shoulder against Waterford yesterday.

VICTORY IN YESTERDAY’S Munster senior hurling final may have come at a cost for Tipperary with reports emerging that Pádraic Maher sustained a serious shoulder injury during the game.

Maher, 26, was superb in a sweeper role for the Premier County but was seen leaving the ground with his left arm in a sling.

It is understood that Maher damaged the AC joint in his shoulder in the early exchanges and further tests will be conducted to discover the full extent of the damage.

A grade 1 or 2 injury is the best case scenario for Maher as he targets Tipp’s next outing in the 2015 championship – an All-Ireland semi-final against Cork or Galway on August 16.

Maher could be back in training within a fortnight depending on the severity of the knock but a more serious problem would see the Thurles Sarsfields man face a race against time to make the last four clash.
