Dundalk dominate PFAI Premier Division Team of the Year

Stephen Kenny’s men dominate proceedings.

SEVEN DUNDALK PLAYERS have been named in the Professional Footballer’s Association of Ireland (PFAI) team of the year.

Indeed, the entire back four is made up of Stephen Kenny’s men with Sean Gannon, Brian Gartland, Andy Boyle and Dane Massey all getting the nod.

The goalkeeper also comes from Louth but it is Drogheda United shot-stopper Micheal Schlingermann between the posts.

Dundalk’s Richie Towell and Stephen O’Donnell make up two thirds of the midfield with St. Patrick’s Athletic’s James Chambers the other.

The final Lilywhite to be named is forward Daryl Horgan who is joined up front by Cork City’s Mark O’Sullivan and Brandon Miele of Shamrock Rovers.

Horgan, O’Donnell and Towell are all nominated for the PFAI Player of the Year along with O’Sullivan, while Bohemians’ Ismahil Akinade joins Gannon and Miele in the running for the Young Player of the Year prize.

The winner of both awards will be announced on 20 November.
