JUST IN CASE anyone thought that the Pro Bowl was anything more than some pre Super Bowl fun in the sun for American footballers, Green Bay team-mates Jordy Nelson and Clay Matthews underlined the fixture’s status as a meaningless friendly.
Nelson (playing for the team picked by Cris Carter) caught this TD pass from Drew Brees.
Matthews (on Michael Irvin’s team) was clearly concerned that Nelson might be left celebrating on his tobler’, so he raced a full 20 yards to the back of the endzone to bump his buddy.
Wait. There was one guy who seemed to take the Pro Bowl seriously. Because JJ Watt takes every game seriously, he can’t help himself.
While most defensive players are happy to take a back seat while QBs and receivers air it out, JJ Watt wanted that Pro Bowl bad.
He hustled his way to recovering this fumble.
And grabbed this interception.

Watt was named as a defensive MVP as Irvin’s squad won out 32-28 with Matt Stafford named offensive MVP.
