Good news on Robbie Keane's knee surgery as striker set to be fit for the Euros

Keane back to full fitness in “close to a month,” says Galaxy boss Bruce Arena.

ROBBIE KEANE HAS been given the green light for Euro 2016 by LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena.

Keane was an injury doubt for Ireland’s Euros campaign after he went under the knife for minor knee surgery last week.

But Galaxy boss Arena expects the veteran striker to be back to full fitness in a month.

This latest update will be music to Martin O’Neill’s ears with Jon Walters, Shane Long, Daryl Murphy and Kevin Doyle also on the injured list at present.

“He had some loose pieces in his knee and needed to have those removed,” Arena explained on Tuesday. ”It’s a fairly normal [occurrence].

“It’s cartilage and a lot of players have some type of issue with their knees at some point.

He should be fine. I’d say in close to a month, he’ll be back to full speed.

Keane, 35, missed Ireland’s friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia, flying back to California for the arthroscopic procedure on his right knee.
