RORY MCILROY’S MASTERS bid is heading in One Direction.
The world number one has invited boyband sensation Niall Horan to caddy for him at the par-three contest at Augusta National today. (Presumably Zayn had other commitments.)
The par-three is one of the many Masters traditions, allowing golfers to spend a bit of time mucking about with their family and friends before the real business begins on Thursday.
Then-fiancée Caroline Wozniacki caddied for Rors last year, and even rolled in this monster 30-footer.
That wasn’t an option this year, for obvious reasons, so McIlroy turned to another of Ireland’s multi-millionaire twenty-somethings to take over from regular bagman JP Fitzgerald.
“He’s been excited to come here,” McIlroy explained. “He’s never been to the Masters.”
I caught up with him in Australia at the end of last year and he was really excited, and I said, if you’re available Wednesday afternoon and you want to carry the bag for nine holes, you’re more than welcome.
“He’s excited to be here and looking forward to spending a bit of time with him out there tomorrow.”
