Highly-rated teenager turns down Premier League offers to sign new Fulham deal

Ryan Sessegnon was being tracked by Man United, Liverpool and Tottenham among other top-flight clubs.

RYAN SESSEGNON, THE highly-rated teenager, has turn down reported interest from Manchester United and Liverpool among other Premier League clubs to sign a first professional deal with Fulham.

The 17-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract with the Championship outfit, extending his stay at Craven Cottage having joined the club in 2008.

After breaking into Fulham’s first team last season, Sessegnon is widely-regarded as one of the hottest young talents in England and had a host of top-flight clubs tracking his progress.

The left-back, who has come through the youth ranks at Fulham, made his senior debut in the EFL Cup clash against Cardiff last year and went onto make 30 appearances, scoring seven times, during the 2016/17 campaign.

Sessegnon’s first goal, against Cardiff, saw him become the first player born in 2000 to score in the Football League.

“I’m excited to see what’s in front of me at this club, hopefully we can all push on now,” he said. “Last year I got a lot of opportunities from the Gaffer, and I just want to continue that.”

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic added: “Ryan joined our first-team squad early during pre-season last summer. One year on, I’m pleased that Ryan’s performances have been rewarded with his first professional contract with Fulham and he will continue to be part of our project in the future.

“He is an exceptional young player who has demonstrated loyalty and commitment by continuing to serve this club since his progression from the academy.”

He will now join up with England U19s ahead of next month’s European Championships in Georgia.

Sessegnon’s twin brother, Steven, has also signed a three-year contract with Fulham.
