WE’RE INCHING EVER closer to Super Bowl XLIX tomorrow night at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
So we summoned the American football experts* at The42 and asked them to tell us who’s going to triumph between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
Are they right? Let us know in the comments section below.
Paul Hosford
“Brady gets it done.”I have no idea why, but I can’t shake the feeling that the Patriots win this. Their secondary can challenge Wilson and they have the speed at linebacker to limit the zone read.“Oh, they also have the greatest QB ever to play the game, who will match Montana and Bradshaw when he takes the title back to Boston.”
Sean Farrell
“It’s been far too long since Tom Brady won a ring. However, my head is telling me Seahawks are going to win back-to-back titles.”Green Bay had their chance to knock them out and failed miserably, that comeback and all the overshadowing Deflate-gate scandal will leave the best QB in the game sitting disappointed again.”
Niall Kelly
“To be a Jets fan, two things are prerequisites – accept that the Jets suck, and hate the Patriots. I don’t particularly like the Seahawks either, though I have the same grudging respect for the Legion of Boom that I have for Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and their ability to reinvent their franchise time and time again with new groups of players.”The Pats are essentially the NFL’s equivalent of Kilkenny under Cody, or United under Ferguson. The prospect of seeing Brady throw anywhere near Sherman, Thomas, Chancellor and Maxwell on Sunday is absolutely fascinating.“In an ideal world, both would lose – but in the real world, the Patriots win.”
Paul Dollery
“Seattle were my pick from the start of the season and I stood by that in the early weeks when they were 3-3 and stumbling over the line against the Raiders, so I’m not going to change my mind now that they’re one win away from consecutive Super Bowls.”Betting against Tom Brady is always risky – don’t poke the bear! – but the manner of Seattle’s comeback against the Packers, added to the off-the-field distractions that are casting a shadow over the Patriots’ preparations, point to a Seahawks win for me.“Seattle’s rushing attack to do the damage against an unreliable New England run defence.”
Will Slattery
“The Patriots. All the talk about deflated footballs this week has just angered Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and I expect them to be even more focused than usual. Also, this is the first postseason in years where they’ve had a healthy Gronk and you can’t underestimate that either.”
