TO THE SURPRISE of absolutely nobody, Jared Goff was selected as the first player in the 2016 NFL Draft by the LA Rams but the night was dominated by the dramatic fall of offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil.
The former Ole Miss player was projected to be a top three pick at one stage but just minutes before the draft started, a video appeared on his Twitter feed apparently showing Tunsil wearing a gas mask and smoking a pipe.
The video was swiftly deleted and Tunsil made his account private but it soon became clear that NFL teams were running scared of drafting him.
Tunsil’s agent said that the account was hacked but that, while the video was of his client, it may be up to five years old.
“All the teams know about it, they believe the account was hacked, and this might have been a video that was very old, going back to high school.”
The Baltimore Ravens, who were widely expected to draft Tunsil, took the decision to take the player off their draft board after seeing the video.
He was eventually selected by the Miami Dolphins at number 13.

Goff’s selection by LA was hardly a surprise as the Rams traded their first-round pick, two second-rounders and a third-round choice in 2016 as well as their first and third-round selections next year to the Tennessee Titans to move from number 15 to the top spot.
Likewise, Wentz was widely tipped to go to the Eagles but the first surprise of the night came with the third overall pick when the San Diego Chargers selected defensive end Joey Bosa in a move that virtually nobody saw coming.
This prompted the Dallas Cowboys to take Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick, with Jalen Ramsey — regarded by many as the best player in the draft — falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars at number five.
