MAN UNITED BOSS Louis van Gaal praised his side’s performance and played down rumours of an imminent departure following his side’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea tonight.
“It was a very good performance — you have to score but we didn’t,” Van Gaal told BT Sport after the match.
“We are forcing the luck, but we don’t have the luck that we need… We were the dominant team
“We created chances, shots on goal and had penalty (claims).
“In the former matches, we didn’t force our luck.”
Asked about his future, the Dutch coach suggested he had no intention of resigning despite the club’s poor recent form.
“It’s not an interesting subject, I cannot have any influence on that,” the 64-year-old coach said.
“You see that the players are fighting for me and have given a good performance and the fans were applauding.
“But in this football world, you never know (what will happen).”
Van Gaal added that he was pleased with the Red Devils’ level of performance, claiming the criticism he had been receiving of late was nothing new.
“When the players can give such a performance with this pressure, there is not any reason to resign.
“(The criticism) happens so much, it’s not the first time — in my first year as manager, they were yelling. When I won the Uefa Cup at Ajax, they stopped yelling.
“Not everyone, but most of the people (in the crowd) are still applauding.
“When the players have done what they’ve done today, the fans can be satisfied.”
