'I'd like to think I'll stay healthy enough that I'd love to have a go again' - Dalo's managerial future

Daly stepped down as Dublin manager in early September but what does the future hold?

FOR THE FIRST time since November 2008, Anthony Daly isn’t involved in the inter-county management game but he hasn’t ruled out returning for another stint.

Daly brought his six-year spell as Dublin manager to an end in early September. Since then he’s helped out Galway’s Ardrahan and Westmeath’s Raharney but despite offers from clubs in three counties, he has no concrete coaching plans for 2015.

“I had a good few clubs on to me to be honest from Galway, Limerick and a couple in Tipp even. I might take up something like that but I don’t know, I might go back filling porter!

“I did a tiny bit with Ardrahan, just a couple of sessions with them, and I did a session with Raharney before the Westmeath final. It was just nice to go in, ate a sandwich and have a cup of tea after, then hit the road home.”

Daly believes he is able for another stint as an inter-county boss but insists his native Clare are in a strong place under their current management team headed by Davy Fitzgerald.

“Obviously Clare have a very strong management team in place for three years. Davy has delivered an All-Ireland and we’ve only won three since the war. He’s delivered one of those three. I don’t think there’s any questions there.

“Myself I’m just gone 45, I’d like to think I’ll stay healthy enough that I’d love to have a go again but where’ll you get that go? Dublin just, coincidence of timing fell in to my lap and our lap a little bit.

“I kind of live for the day anyway, I’m that kind of fella always. If the right thing came along and it seemed like a decent fit and I thought I could have a go and improve things, and get the best out of them.

“That’s the biggest challenge, can you get the best out of them, at any level really. That might be to win a county junior title or to win an All-Ireland. Can you get the best out of that bunch of players, can you get the maximum out of them. That’s your biggest challenge.”
