Significant increase in LOI attendances as Cork City named best-supported club
ATTENDANCES IN THE SSE Airtricity League have risen by a notable 48.8% since last season.
The league confirmed an average increase of 17% at the beginning of May and since then, attendances have continued to grow, with Cork City revealed as the league’s best-supported club.
Over 291,500 spectators have attended 219 games across the Premier and First Divisions, with average game-week attendances at 12,680 across both divisions combined.
The highest attendance of the season so far was at the Premier Division clash between league leaders Cork City and reigning champions Dundalk at Turner’s Cross in March, as 6,746 fans turned out to see the home side come out on top.
The Cross hosted four of the five most-attended fixtures this year, with the other coming as Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians went head-to-head at Tallaght Stadium.
Behind the Leesiders, Dundalk comes as the second most-supported club, while Shamrock Rovers sit in third.
