Chelsea investigate Marseille claims

The Blues launch an investigation into incidents involving Marseille fans as their security chief is kicked out of Stamford Bridge.

CHELSEA HAVE LAUNCHED an investigation into a number of incidents involving Marseille fans amid claims by the French club’s security chief that he was thrown out of Stamford Bridge.

Marseille’s head of security Guy Cazadamont claims he was ejected from the West London ground during the Champions League game on Tuesday.

He also said that that travelling stewards were prevented from working and some away fans with tickets were locked out of the match. He said:

I was grabbed round the waist and was eventually thrown out of the stadium. I have never experienced such a reception in a European competition. I was expecting something else since everything always went pretty well when we played in Liverpool, Bolton, Manchester or Newcastle.

Cazadamont claimed the 22 Marseille stewards, who had travelled from France, were not allowed to supervise their fans in the stands and that banners were confiscated at the stadium entrance. He also said some supporters were not allowed to enter the stadium with their tickets ripped up.

Chelsea issued a statement saying they will investigate the claims and will make no further comment until the investigation is complete.

The Blues won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from captain John Terry and French striker Nicolas Anelka.
