CHELSEA ARE READY to ban any supporters found guilty of throwing coins at Manchester City players during their FA Cup fifth-round tie at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Missiles were thrown from the lower section of the Matthew Harding Stand as City players celebrated David Faupala’s first-half equaliser in front of the massed ranks of Chelsea’s support.

Television cameras showed referee Andre Marriner collecting three objects from the corner of the pitch, the first of which appeared to be a coin.

A Chelsea spokesman at half-time condemned the action and said if evidence can be found of who was responsible they would be banned from the stadium.

“We condemn such idiotic and dangerous behaviour and if we can identify them we will ban them from Stamford Bridge. It is a criminal offence,” the spokesman said.

Blues interim manager Guus Hiddink agreed that action must be taken.

“There were coins thrown at the Man City players in their celebration. We condemn that strongly,” the Dutchman said.

I think Chelsea will react. Those people must not go into stadiums.

It was the second incident of coin-throwing to mar this weekend’s FA Cup action.
