BOTH CLARE AND Kilkenny have resisted the temptation to make changes for Saturday’s Bord Gáis Energy All-Ireland U21 hurling championship final in Semple Stadium.
Clare joint managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor have stuck with the side that were convincing winners over Antrim at the semi-final stage while Kilkenny boss Richie Mulrooney has also named an unchanged team from that which defeated Galway in the last four.
Two members of the Clare side – wing back Patrick O’Connor and full-forward Conor McGrath – both came on as substitutes during the counties meeting in the All-Ireland U21 final in 2009. From the Clare team that started the 2010 All-Ireland minor final there are six survivors – Ronan Taaffe, Paul Flanagan, Seadna Morey, Colm Galvin, Tony Kelly and Padraic Collins.
While the Kilkenny team that faced them from the off in that game have 11 survivors – Dylan Walsh, Jason Corcoran, Willie Phelan, Brian Kennedy, Luke Harney, Ollie Walsh, Kevin Kelly, Padraig Walsh, Cillian Buckley, John Power and Ger Aylward.
