O'Sullivan settles for brace as Cork put 4 past Bohs

The Rebels are now unbeaten in 11 games.

Cork City 4

Bohemians 0

A FIRST-HALF BRACE from Mark O’Sullivan helped Cork City to extend their unbeaten SSE Airtricity League Premier Division run to 11 games as they saw off Bohemians at Turner’s Cross.

In front of 3,204 people, John Caulfield’s side were always in control of this game, O’Sullivan’s third-minute goal setting them on their way and the first half, in particular, saw them play some sparkling stuff.

Steven Beattie was the provider for the opener, his inviting cross tucked in at the near post and after that they dominated possession, Liam Miller strong in midfield.

In the 16th minute, O’Sullivan nearly made it two as he headed against the post from Karl Sheppard’s cross while Sheppard went close himself before the second goal arrived. Again it was from O’Sullivan, as he drilled a low shot to the net after Miller rolled a free kick to him.

No hat-trick

Bohs’ best chance of the half came came when Jake Kelly had a long-range shot which whistled over and he had their best opportunity to get back into it in the second, striking a free off the crossbar on 69.

Four minutes later, City – who always looked comfortable – got a third after Beattie was fouled by Dave Mulcahy for a penalty. Colin Healy, playing at right-back, took it rather than O’Sullivan going for the hat-trick and he fired past Delany. In the dying minutes, sub Danny Morrissey got on the scoresheet too, producing a nice volley after another replacement, Ross Gaynor, teed him up.

CORK CITY: Mark McNulty; Colin Healy, Alan Bennett (Stephen Folan 79), Dan Murray, Kevin O’Connor; John Dunleavy, Liam Miller (Danny Morrissey 69); Beattie, Garry Buckley, Karl Sheppard (Ross Gaynor 58); Mark O’Sullivan.

BOHEMIANS: Dean Delany; Roberto Lopes, Derek Prendergast, Dave Mulcahy, Stephen Best; Jake Kelly (Jason Byrne 81), Robbie Creevy, Eoin Wearen (Karl Moore half-time), Adam Evans (James O’Brien 76); Ismahil Akinade, Keith Buckley.

Referee: Pádraigh Sutton (Clare).
