Cork team

Cork 0-1 Tipperary 0-1: 4 mins – Tipperary’s Peter Acheson bursts forward to point but it could have been a far greater reward for them. A sweeping team move released Conor Sweeney but the advancing Ken O’Halloran bravely blocked his shot. The rebound fell to Acheson and Tipperary had to be satisfied with the point rather than a goal.

Tipperary’s defending impressive so far. They’re denying Cork space early on and in particular are targeting danger man Brian Hurley who’s being followed closely by Ciaran McDonald.

Tipperary 0-2 Cork 0-1: 7 mins – Conor Sweeney hooks over a free and Tipperary edge ahead.

Cork 0-2 Tipperary 0-2: 8 mins – All square now after a fine point from the left wing by Barry O’Driscoll.

Tipperary 0-4 Cork 0-2: 9 mins – Superb point by Michael Quinlivan but the score was all the result of a great run by Colin O’Riordan and last year’s minor strikes over a terrific point himself.

Tipperary 0-5 Cork 0-2: 11 mins – Now Tipp go three points clear with Quinlivan fouled and Barry Grogan doing the needful from the free.

Tipperary 0-5 Cork 0-3: 13 mins – Brian Hurley points a free for Cork after Fintan Goold is brought down.

Tipperary 0-5 Cork 0-4: 14 mins – Cork hit their stride in attack with Andrew O’Sullivan fetching a kick out and laying off to Mark Collins who punts it in to John Hayes. The pass is swift from Hayes to the inrushing Paul Kerrigan and he points.

Cork 0-5 Tipperary 0-5: 16 mins – Cork have wiped out Tipp’s lead and drawn level. Goulding points the latest free.

Poor shooting on both sides at the moment, teams still level as we approach the 20th minute mark.

Cork 0-6 Tipperary 0-5: 21 mins – Goulding knocks over a free to edge Cork ahead.

Cork 0-7 Tipperary 0-5: 26 mins – John Hayes wriggles clear of a few Tipperary defenders and taps over his first point of the game for Cork.

No score for Tipperary since the 11th minute now.

Cork 0-7 Tipperary 0-6: 27 mins – Tipperary needed something to inspire them and they’ve got it through a terrific score from midfielder Steven O’Brien.

Cork 0-7 Tipperary 0-7: 29 mins – All square again after Brian Fox is fouled and Grogan converts the resultant free.

Yellow card for Tipperary’s Ciaran McDonald for a foul on Hurley.

Cork 0-9 Tipperary 0-7: 32 mins – Tipperary attack but a wayward kick from O’Riordan is seized by the Cork defence and they launch a counter-attack. Goold gallops through the Tipp defence and lobs over a point.

Before that Mark Collins had struck Cork’s 8th point of the day.

Sub: Aidan Walsh is on for Cork for Andrew O’Sullivan.

Tipperary 1-7 Cork 0-9: 35 mins – What a boost for Tipperary. A long ball evades the Cork defence and Sweeney gathers before slipping a low shot under Ken O’Halloran and in to the bottom corner of the net.

Moments previously at the other end Cork spurned a goal chance when Acheson got back to clear a shot by John Hayes off the line.

Half-Time: Tipperary 1-7 Cork 0-9

Advantage Tipperary at the break with Philip Austin setting up Sweeney for that crucial goal. Big challenge ahead for Cork, we’ll be back shortly with the second-half action.

Teams back out for the second-half. Daniel Goulding has been replaced by Eoin Cadogan on the Cork team. Positional reshuffle sees John O’Rourke go to attack with Tom Clancy now centre-back and Patrick Kelly on the wing.

Tipperary 1-8 Cork 0-9: 36 mins – First blood in the second-half for Tipperary as Sweeney points a free following a foul on Steven O’Brien.

Cathal Noonan / INPHO Cathal Noonan / INPHO / INPHO

Great scoring chance for Tipperary as they prise open the Cork defence but Ger Mulhair fists wide from close range.

Tipperary 1-8 Cork 0-10: 42 mins – Vital point for Cork from Mark Collins.

Sub: Brian Mulvihill is on for Tipperary for Ian Fahey.

Tipperary starting to chalk up the wides, nine so far.

Another Tipperary wide, this time for Philip Austin. They’ve a chance here to pull clear but are squandering opportunities.

Tipperary 1-10 Cork 0-10: 47 mins – Sweeney again, this time from play, and Tipperary go three in front.

Little going right for Cork at the moment. Their play is very sloppy and they haven’t improved since half-time.
