Creedon picks Premier team to face Kerry

Borrisokane’s Philip Austin will captain Tipp in Sunday’s Munster SFC opener against Kerry.

TIPPERARY INTERIM MANAGER Peter Creedon has named his starting XV to take on defending champions Kerry in Sunday’s Munster SFC opener.

Creedon’s side shows five changes to the team which lined out against Offaly in the final game of Tipp’s Division 3 league campaign.

Borrisokane’s Philip Austin captains the side from corner-forward, replacing Brian Grogan who emigrated to New York last month.

Alan Maloney starts opposite Austin in the full-forward line while the JK Bracken’s pair of Lorcan Egan and Shane Scully are named at wing-forward.

Éire Óg’s Brian Fox comes in at wing-back, joining Robbie Costigan and Alan Campbell in the half-back line.

Meanwhile, Kerry boss Jack O’Connor will be without Marc Ó Sé for the first time in eight seasons when the sides line out in Semple Stadium this weekend.

The three-time All-Star was ruled out yesterday with a hamstring injury but is not expected to miss more than a couple of weeks.
