Dan Sheridan/INPHO Kidney would be a good appointment for London Irish.

Declan Kidney is apparently the favourite for a head coaching job in the Aviva Premiership
The former Ireland boss is reportedly in the running to take over at London Irish.

THE DISPOSED IRELAND head coaches of recent times haven’t exactly been given a chance to immediately return to glory. Eddie O’Sullivan had to take jobs with the US Eagles and relegated Biarritz while Declan Kidney took a role with UCC rather than return to rugby.

That might be set to change in the near future because ESPN are reporting that London Irish are strongly considering appointing the Grand Slam winning coach as their main man when Brian Smith departs at the end of the season.

While his tenure as Ireland coach ended in disappointment with just one win in his final 6 Nations campaign, his record as a head coach is good with two Heineken Cup wins with Munster on his CV to add to the Grand Slam.

London Irish’s owners have tried to emphasis the club’s Irishness in the last year and they have Tomas O’Leary, Eamonn Sheridan, Eoin Griffin and Tom Court in their squad.

It would be great to see Kidney back in coaching. What are the chances the he revives London Irish’s fortunes?
