THE LATEST SANCTION to be imposed in the aftermath of last month’s infamous match between Derrytresk and Dromid Pearses has seen a woman banned from going to GAA games for a year, according to reports.
Both clubs were fined and several players received suspensions following violent scenes in the All-Ireland club JFC semi-final in Portlaoise on January 22 but Derrytresk have since stated that they will be appealing the fines and Dromid have sought legal advice over the matter.
The GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) have now slapped a 48-week ban on the female Derrytresk supporter, according to today’s Irish Daily Star.
Kerry inter-county footballer Declan O’Sullivan was struck by the fan in question’s handbag during the brawl.
Eight of Derrytresk’s players will have their appeals heard on Tuesday evening as they hope to clear their names in time for next Sunday’s All-Ireland final against Naomh Padraig.
The GAA had no comment to make this morning while no representative from Derrytresk was immediately available for comment.
