Giants' season somehow finds lower ebb as star cornerback is suspended indefinitely

He would lose $410,588 each week he is suspended.

NEW YORK GIANTS cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been suspended indefinitely by the winless, Odell Beckham-less NFL team after a Thursday meeting with coach Ben McAdoo, the club has announced.

The move came a day after a heated argument between McAdoo and the Pro Bowl cornerback in which Rodgers-Cromartie left the Giants training facility before practice.

Rodgers-Cromartie could be suspended up to four weeks under terms of the NFL’s working agreement with the players union. He would lose $410,588 each week he is suspended.

The reason for anger from Rodgers-Cromartie was because he learned Tuesday that he would be deactivated for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Rodgers-Cromartie tossed his helmet in disgust when he was taken off the field late in Sunday’s 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, saying he had been a “good soldier” to take the slot cornerback role.

His frustration comes as the Giants are off to an 0-5 start and while they started 0-6 as recently as 2013, the club that won Super Bowl titles after the 2007 and 2011 seasons appears in serious trouble this time around.

Rodgers-Cromartie, who has one-season remaining on his contract, has made 26 tackles this season, his 10th in the NFL. His previous league stops include Arizona, Philadelphia and Denver. He has 30 career interceptions with seven defensive touchdowns.
