CUBAN BASEBALL PLAYER Alex Guerrero had part of his ear bitten off in a dugout scuffle with fellow Los Angeles Dodger minor leaguer Miguel Olivo during a Triple A league game.
Scott Boras, the agent for Guerrero, told American television station Fox News yesterday that his client was taken to hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery to repair the damaged ear.
Olivo, of the Dominican Republic, is a catcher and Guerrero is an infielder for the Dodgers’ farm team, the Albuquerque Isotopes.
The two players argued on the field, then continued their spat in the team’s dugout where at least one punch was thrown and one player’s ear was “displaced by a bite” according to Boras.
Boras said his client, who defected from Cuba in the offseason, would likely need plastic surgery.
This is the worst thing to happen the Isotopes since they moved from Springfield.
