Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne handed England debut as Rooney wins 100th cap

Rooney becomes the ninth player to reach a century of apperances for the Three Lions.

HAVING BEEN AN unused substitute for England’s last two Euro 2016 qualifiers, Southampton full-back Nathaniel Clyne will make his senior debut in this evening’s game against Slovenia at Wembley.

Roy Hodgson has made three changes to the side that narrowly beat Estonia last month with Clyne given the nod ahead of Arsenal’s Calum Chambers at right-back.

Raheem Sterling returns to the starting XI after sitting out the game in Tallin due to fatigue while he’s joined in midfield by Liverpool team mates Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson.

On the occasion of his 100th England cap, Wayne Rooney captains the side. For the visitors, manager Srecko Katanec has made two changes to his side from the one that beat Lithuania last time out.

England are currently top of Group E after starting their campaign with three successive wins.

England: Hart, Clyne, Jagielka, Cahill, Gibbs, Sterling, Lallana, Henderson, Wilshere, Welbeck, Rooney

Slovenia: Handanovic, Brecko, Cesar, Ilic, Struna, Kurtic, Mertelj, Birsa, Kirm, Kampl, Novakovic
