LIVERPOOL’S FIRST STARTING XI of the season features four summer signings — including 18-year-old Joe Gomez at left-back.

Christian Benteke, James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne also start, while Roberto Firmino is on the bench.

Stoke, meanwhile, have Irish internationals Glenn Whelan and Jon Walters in their starting XI, while Shay Given and Stephen Ireland are on the bench.
