GAA wrap: Dubs outclass Louth, Leitrim pip London

Meanwhile, Wexford and Longford are set for a replay, while Down have progressed at the expense of Fermanagh.

GOALS FROM DONAL O’Hare and Conor Laverty helped Down secure a 2-10 to 1-08 victory and progress to the Ulster SFC semi-finals at the expense of Fermanagh this afternoon.

Fermanagh had to play most of the game with 14 men, after Daryl Keenan was sent off early on, and despite a Damien Kelly goal threatening to inspire a second-half comeback, it was ultimately not enough for Peter Canavan’s side.

Elsewhere today, Longford and Wexford will meet again on June 10 after the two sides drew in the Leinster Championship quarter-final at Croke Park.

Two goals from Paul Barden were ultimately not enough for Longford, who avoided defeat thanks to a last-minute Seanie McCormack free, with the game ending in a 0-15 to 2-09 draw.

In a far less closely fought game, Dublin defeated Louth 2-22 to 0-12 in the Leinster SFC Quarter-Final.

Two goals from Bernard Brogan effectively ended the game as a contest before half-time, as the Dubs outclassed their opponents.

Meanwhile, Leitrim earned the narrowest of victories against London, triumphing 0-12 to 1-08 at Ruislip.

Padraig McGoldrick’s first-half goal gave London a 1-05 to 0-5 half-time lead, but an Emlyn Mulligan-inspired Leitrim subsequently went on to claim victory, despite a late Eoin O’Neill free setting up a tense finish.

And in today’s Leinster SHC, Galway beat Westmeath in a high-scoring 5-19 to 4-12 win in Mullingar.

James Regan, David Burke (2), Cyril Donnellan and Andy Smith all found the net for Galway, while Niall O’Brien (2), Brendan Murtagh and Paddy Dowdall responded for their opponents.
