Champions Ballygunner dominate GAA club hurling team of the year

Loughrea and St Martin’s are also represented on the team.

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS Ballygunner have eight players selected on the AIB GAA hurling club championship team of the year.

The Waterford and Munster kingpins overcame Galway’s Loughrea to claim a second-ever All-Ireland crown.

Loughrea have three players included, while Leinster victors St Martin’s of Wexford supply four players.

The shortlist for club hurler of the year is a clean sweep for Ballygunner with teammates Dessie Hutchinson, Paddy Leavey and Stephen O’Keeffe in contention.

The team will be honoured at the awards ceremony in Croke Park on Friday 13 March, when the club hurler of the year will also be announced.
