Injured Mayo star to miss International Rules series

Andy Moran will not be featuring in the series, after he suffered a broken leg last weekend, ruling him out for approximately four months.

ANDY MORAN WILL be unable to compete in the upcoming International Rules series after breaking his leg while training last weekend.

The series begins next month, and Moran will be out for at least four months as a result of the break.

The player told HoganStand.com:

“While it is disappointing to miss out on the chance to go to Australia, I’m quite relieved because it was a clean break and I should be back playing within three or four months. If it had been my knee, I’d be looking at six or eight months out.”

Moran has been in terrific form for Mayo this year and is tipped to win an All-Star as a result of a series of excellent displays, which saw his side win the Connacht Senior Football Championship and reach the All-Ireland semi-finals.

The Irish squad travel to Australia next month, as they aim to equal the amount of series currently won by Australia (six) since the competition officially began in 1998.
