Here is the Irish Fantasy Football Team of the Season

Featuring David Meyler, Damien Delaney and a number of Stoke players.

THE IRISH TEAM OF the season in Fantasy Football correlates pretty closely to what the average punter would suspect to be the best performers.

Not only was Seamus Coleman the best Irish defender, he was the best defender overall with 180 points.

Coleman is followed by Damien Delaney, John O’Shea, Marc Wilson and Ciaran Clark.

Midfield is not quite so successful points-wise, with James McCarthy the highest scorer (95).

Jonathan Walters, David Meyler, Glenn Whelan and Stephen Ireland also feature.

Up front, options are conspicuously more limited, with only Shane Long and Joe Mason, who got a sum total of 0 points, to choose from.

The outcome is a decent team, though with potentially key players such as Robbie Keane and Richard Dunne operating outside the Premier League, it is one we are not likely to see in action in real life anytime soon.

Starting XI: Westwood; Coleman, Delaney, O’Shea, Wilson; Walters, McCarthy, Whelan, Meyler, Ireland; Long.
