QPR MIDFIELDER JOEY Barton has long been regarded as one of football’s most eccentric personalties, and this latest incident will only accentuate that reputation.
As Reading midfielder Danny Guthrie was lying injured on the ground, Barton appeared to wiggle his boot on the striker.
The 31-year-old later defended the incident on Twitter, saying: “For all the nuggets fretting over the ball massage I gave Guth. Needn’t worry I’ve check in with his misses, they are still in tact!
“A little bit of a joke, picked up by tv and some people want to put a sinister side to it.
“We were just having a little fun, enjoying ourselves so too speak. Him probably more than me. #balltickle”
