WE’VE HAD two weeks of football but this weekend hurling takes centre stage as the NHL gets underway. One of the marquee match-ups of the opening round sees Cork host Kilkenny at Páirc Uí Rinn and both managers have named teams with a mix of youth and experience.
Anthony Nash will captain the Cork team from the goal while the full forward line of Alan Cadogan, Paudie O’Sullivan and Patrick Cronin looks particularly potent.
Hurler of the year Richie Hogan has been named at corner-forward by Brian Cody who is without his Ballyhale Shamrock contingent as they prepare for the All-Ireland club final.
Throw-in at Páirc Uí Rinn is at 7.00pm on Saturday.
