GALWAY’S HOPES OF their minor and U21 hurling sides competing in the Leinster championships were dashed last night.
Leinster Council delegates voted at a meeting against allowing Galway’s underage sides compete in the province. The Tribesmen already compete in the province at senior level and had hoped that their underage sides could follow suit.
But they will now have to stick with the system whereby they only enter the minor and U21 championships once the All-Ireland series commences.

Galway have enjoyed notable success at underage hurling level with three All-Ireland U21 titles and four All-Ireland minor crowns since 2004.
