Lucas Radebe part of consortium bidding to buy stake in Leeds United
FORMER SOUTH AFRICA defender Lucas Radebe on Wednesday confirmed that he is a member of a consortium seeking to purchase a stake in his ex-club Leeds United.
Radebe, 44, made over 250 appearances for Leeds during his player career and returned to Elland Road as a guest of the club last month to watch a game against Birmingham City.
“Following recent speculation, I can confirm that I am part of a consortium which has submitted a preliminary indication of interest regarding the acquisition of a stake in Leeds United Football Club,” Radebe wrote on his personal website,www.lucasradebe.com.
Three-time English league champions, Leeds were relegated from the Premier League in 2004 and currently play in the second-tier Championship.
The north England club are owned by Middle Eastern private equity group GFH Capital.
