Former Ulster winger retiring at 26 to start a new career in the financial sector

Edinburgh have announced that Michael Allen is leaving the club at the end of the season.

EDINBURGH RUGBY HAVE announced that Irish winger Michael Allen will depart the club at the end of the season to embark on career in the financial sector.

The 26-year-old joined the Scottish club from Ulster in 2015 and went on to make 31 appearances for the Pro12 side.

But Allen has made the decision to make a drastic career change and hang up his boots.

“The decision to pursue a new career away from rugby was an extremely hard one to make and one that took a lot of thought and deliberation,” Allen said in a statement released by the club this evening.

“As a family, we have fallen in love with Edinburgh and see the place as a home-from-home, so we’re delighted to continue living in the city and I look forward to supporting the boys in the seasons to come.”

The Belfast native made his debut for Ulster against Leinster in 2012 and went on to make 48 senior appearances for the province.

Edinburgh thanked Allen for his commitment to the club, and wished him well for the future.
