The Morning Score: Wednesday

Robbie in line for an Italian job, Cork get a decision from their football manager and it’s an interesting start for the new-look Miami Heat overnight.

1. #TRANSFER Robbie Keane is a transfer target for Serie A giants Juventus, according to Italian newspaper the Corriere dello Sport. Juve boss Luigi Delneri will swoop for the unsettled Spurs striker if he fails to land Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko or Fiorentina’s Alberto Gilardino in January.

2. #NBA Okay, basketball’s new dream team – the Miami Heat – are not going unbeaten this year, as Lebron James might have hoped before last night. The Celtics made sure of that with a 88-80 win in Boston.

3. #MANAGEMENT All-Ireland-winning boss Conor Counihan is set to stay on in charge of the Cork senior footballers for a further two years, the Irish Examiner reports this morning.

4. #MAN UTD New Mexican striker Javier Hernandez was again the hero at Old Trafford as he fired United into the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup with a last-minute goal against Mick McCarthy’s Wolves. Kevin Foley had earlier made it 2-2, as extra time looked likely, before Chicarito’s strike.

4. #SHINTY Kilkenny legend Tommy Walsh will captain Ireland in Saturday’s other compromise clash with Scotland in Croke Park.

7. #GOLF Pádraig Harrington says he was ‘chuffed’ to be voted Ireland’s greatest ever sportsman recently.

8. #PAYDAY Ireland defender John O’Shea is set for a major pay deal, as Alex Ferguson lines up a new £16.5million contract.  The Old Trafford boss moved as O’Shea had just one year left of his agreement – and he is keen to sign up his top players in the wake of the Rooney transfer fiasco.

9. #INTERNATIONAL RULES Former International Rules stalwart Ciaran McManus has urged Ireland’s players to ‘enjoy it a bit more’ next time out on Saturday, in this morning’s Irish Daily Mirror.

10. #REBELS Speculation is mounting on Leeside, that Aisake will become the second Ó hAilpín out the Páirc Uí Chaoimh gate as Denis Walsh continues his ruthless player review, according the Irish Daily Star.
