ON CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA, the final track of their 1995 album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory’, Oasis’ Liam Gallagher sings “where were you when we were getting high?”
Well, it turns out the answer is “playing in the semi-finals of the Rogers Cup”.
Or, at least, it is if you’re Novak Djokovic.
The world number one complained of the smell and dizziness during his win over Jeremy Chardy in Montreal yesterday.
After winning the first set 6-4, he approached the umpire and said:
“Someone is smoking weed, I can smell it, I’m getting dizzy. Somebody is getting high. Can you smell it? The whole stadium smells it.”
However, Djokovic managed to keep his cool and booked his place in today’s final against Andy Murray by also taking the second set 6-4.
That didn’t stop him continuing his complaint post match where he revealed he’d first noticed it during an appearance in the doubles on Friday.
“You can’t believe how bad it was. Whoever it is, I hope he doesn’t come back tomorrow. He’s probably on the seventh sky somewhere.
“Yesterday in the doubles match, today again. Somebody’s really enjoying his life around the tennis court.”
