Pat Flanagan set to be confirmed as Offaly manager once he finalises his backroom team

The former Sligo boss will replace Emmet McDonnell at the helm of the Faithful county.

PAT FLANAGAN IS set to be confirmed as the new Offaly football manager, once he finalises his management team which he expects to be very soon.

Once Flanagan has his package in place, the Offaly hierarchy will ratify his appointment at a special county board meeting.

TheScore.ie understands that Flanagan’s appointment was confirmed last night at a county board meeting in O’Connor Park, and all that remains is for the former Sligo and Westmeath boss to put together his backroom team and be official appointed as manager.

The Clara native, who steered his home club to the Dowling Cup in 2009, also intends on taking control of the Faithful’s U21s with a different set of selectors.

It is understood that former Monaghan and Meath manager Seamus McEnaney was interviewed for the position, along with Edenderry boss Peter Brady and former Waterford manager Niall Carew.
