Good news for Martin O'Neill as Robbie Brady expected to be fit for Poland

Steve Bruce says the winger has returned to training sooner than expected.

HULL CITY MANAGER Steve Bruce has confirmed that winger Robbie Brady may be available for the Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Poland on 29 March.

The 23-year-old had been ruled out for up to six weeks when he suffered a calf injury in training with the Tigers at the start of March, but has returned to full training well ahead of schedule. “He trained [Thursday], which shocked us all, but he’s come along very nicely,” Bruce told reporters. ”It’s now three weeks since he did his calf.”

The Hull City boss believes that Brady may feature in the matchday squad for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea, and then is likely to be fit enough to play for Ireland seven days later. “It’s a big important game, so he will hopefully be involved on Sunday with us,” the 54-year-old said.

“It’s a big call, but if he does a week’s training with Ireland, then it could be the ideal situation that he plays. I’m sure if he’s on the bench or involved on Sunday then he will be available for Ireland. It’ll be their call.”
