SAM BURGESS WAS meant to make his rugby union debut with Bath at the start of November but that has been delayed after the incoming centre fractured his cheekbone on the first play of the NRL Grand Final yesterday.
Rather than go off, Burgess played the remaining 79 minutes with a mangled face. You can see the hit that did it and the rest of the highlights from South Sydney Rabbitohs’ win over the Canterbury Bulldogs right here. Leinster signing Ben Te’o was also in the South Sydney side.
Whether or not you think Burgess will succeed in union, you can’t deny his toughness. He also had a brilliant response when asked about his cheekbone at half-time.

When he finally does make his debut for Bath, it is going to be a fun experience.
