Pumas and Springboks share the spoils in Argentina
ARGENTINA AND SOUTH AFRICA drew 16-all draw in the Rugby Championship at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas on Saturday.
The hosts had lost their opening match to South Africa 27-6 in Cape Town last week but produced their best result in 15 matches against the 2007 World Cup champions.
Argentina went into the half-time break holding a 13-3 lead on the back of a Santiago Fernandez try and it took until the 65th minute for the Springboks to level.
Francois Steyn crossed the line with 15 minutes remaining after charging down a Marcelo Bosch kick before Morne Steyn converted to tie the match.
Morne Steyn had the chance to win the match for the visitors however the 28-year-old missed the 74th-minute penalty kick.
The All Blacks lead the standings on eight points, with South Africa second (6), Argentina third (2) and Robbie Deans’ Wallabies without a point.
