THE SCARS OF a trying four days at the Augusta Masters have not yet healed for World Number One Luke Donald.
Englishman Donald shot a round of 76 at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina on Friday. Just one shot separates him from Padraig Harrington, who struggled to replicate his form from last weekend.
Harrington declared on Sunday that he had regained the form that had brought him three golfing Majors. He was hoping to build on his eighth place finish at Augusta but his round was punctured by a run of three bogeys in five holes.
Matt Kuchar tied for third place at Augusta National but is +1 after the first round and five shots behind leaders Chad Campbell, Colt Knost and Vaughn Taylor.
South African feel to Malaysian leaderboard
Over in Malaysia on the ever-expanding European, a trio of South Africans, including Masters runner-up, were leading the way before storms curtailed the second round.
2011 Master winner, Charl Schwartzel, and this year’s runner-up, Oosthuizen, led the way at the Malaysian Open after day one.
Before the charcoal storm clouds burst, Schwartzel had dropped back to -5 after dropping three shots through 14 holes. Oosthuizen had moved up to -8 but two other South Africans had taken a share of top spot.
Jbe Kruger shot a 65, while elder statesman Hennie Otto carded a 64. The duo are well placed on -9 and players with uncompleted rounds will tee off first thing on Saturday morning.
World Number Seven, Martin Kaymer was -5 after 12 holes of his second round. Ireland’s sole representative in Malaysia, Peter Lawrie, will need to pick up at least two shots his he finishes up his second round as he is currently a couple adrift of the +1 cut-off mark.
