THE FOOTBALL AGENT and advisor to Carlos Tevez, Kia Joorabchian, has claimed he was mistranslated in a post-match interview.
And the advisor says that this supposed misinterpretation of the interview was what prompted Man City to ban the player for two weeks.
During the interview in question, Tevez was reported as saying:
“I didn’t feel right to play so I didn’t.”
Tevez has since denied the accusation, also put forward by Man City manager Roberto Mancini, that he refused to play in the Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich.
Tevez met with City officials on Monday to discuss the issue, and Joorabchian maintains that the striker did nothing wrong, saying that language problems were to blame for the misunderstanding. He told reporters:
“I listened to the questions in English and the interpretations in Spanish. Both questions were interpreted incorrectly and both answers of Carlos were then misinterpreted.”
The striker is currently in limbo, with Man City refusing to play him, while they have also rejected West Ham’s offer to sign the striker on loan.
Tevez played a starring role in helping City to secure Champions League football last season, scoring 20 goals in 28 appearances.
However, he has fallen out of favour recently, having reluctantly returned to the club, after he failed to secure a move away from Manchester over the summer.
